Sending Invoices from PayPal
The PayPal account may be used to obtain payment using 2 different ways:
- Request Money
- Send Invoice
1) Request Money
This tool may be used to request payment for products or services where an invoice is not required. The tool is accessed by clicking the “Request Money” tab from the PayPal account dashboard and select “Create a Money Request” from the sub menu.
Enter the email address of the person/organisation you want to request money or, if you have sent a money request to this person/organisation previously, select the relevant email address from the drop down box.
Enter the amount required and the relevant currency and use the radio buttons to indicate whether this payment is for goods or services and click “Continue”.
The next screen confirms the recipient of the money request, the amount and currency to be paid and allows the email that will be sent from PayPal to be personalised. Once you are happy that all details are correct, click the “Request Money” button to send the request.
The recipient will receive the email which will contain a link to a page on the PayPal website where the payment may be made.
The recipient does not require a PayPal account in order to pay the money request and may enter credit or debit card details if necessary.
2) Send Invoice
This tool is used to request money by invoice. It allows you to bill customers, individuals or groups by an emailed invoice, even if they don’t have a PayPal account. To access this function, select the “Request Money” tab from the PayPal account dashboard and select “Create an Invoice” from the sub menu.
On first use, the invoice must be created from scratch by entering details such as item detail, quantities, tax and shipping. This initial invoice may then be saved as an invoice template and used for furture requirements.
On the invoice screen, enter all required details into the relevant fields. The email that is sent to the recipient may also be personalised in this screen.
For the actual items to invoice, enter the relevant details including any shipping or taxes. Additional rows may be added to the invoice by clicking the “Add More Rows” button at the bottom of the invoice screen.
Once cempleted, click “Continue” to preview the invoice. If you are happy that all details are correct, click the “Send Invoice” button to send the invoice. The recipient will receive an email with instructions on how to pay you using PayPal. The recipient does not require a PayPal account in order to pay the invoice and may enter credit or debit card details if necessary.
Invoices that have been sent will be added to the account history which can be viewed by clicking “History” on the “My Account” sub menu. From here, invoices may be cancelled or reminders sent for outstanding invoice payments.
